Graduate Students & Financial Aid

Obtaining a graduate education can be quite rewarding and expensive.  Many students rely upon financial assistance to help them afford the graduate experience.

You may find the Graduate Student Federal Aid Checklist to be a helpful tool in guiding you through the process.

The various types of financial assistance are listed below:

Graduate Assistantships

Wagner offers GA positions through the Division of Graduate Studies. Accelerated MBA and Executive MBA students are ineligible for GA positions. In addition, Graduate Assistants cannot hold full-time employment elsewhere.

Please visit the Graduate Studies webpage for additional information.  All GAs must complete a FAFSA and Graduate Enrollment Form.  A copy of your signed Graduate Assistant contract must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid so your tuition credits may be applied appropriately.  Those receiving Graduate Assistantships may not simultaneously receive any other institutional aid or assistantship from the College.

Alumni Fellowships

Alumni Fellowships are awarded to full-time graduate students who completed their undergraduate degree at Wagner College.  The Fellowship is limited to degree-seeking graduate students and those in the Educational Leadership or Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate programs only.  Executive MBA students and Doctoral students are ineligible for the Alumni Fellowship.

Fellows receive a 25% tuition discount.  During the regular academic year (fall/spring), students must be registered for a minimum of 9 credits and a maximum of 12 credit in order to receive the discount. During the summer session, a student must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits and maximum of 12 credits in order to benefit from the Fellowship.

Those receiving Alumni Fellowships may not simultaneously receive any other institutional aid or assistantship from the College.

Teacher Tuition Waivers

Graduate Students who elect to utilize a Teacher Tuition Waiver are prohibited from receiving any other type of institutional aid.

Community Health Discount

A 15% tuition discount is available to employees of Staten Island University Hospital who matriculate at Wagner College on a full-time or part-time basis.  Recipients of the Community Health Discount are prohibited from receiving any other type of institutional aid.

EMBA Discount

A 20% discount is available to employees of Staten Island University Hospital who matriculate at Wagner College on a full-time basis.  Recipients of the EMBA discount are prohibited from receiving any other type of institutional aid.  Those receiving an EMBA Discount may not simulataneously receive any other institutional aid or assistantship from the College.

Payment Plan

Students may wish to pay their balance through an interest-free payment plan.  In order to do so, you will need to sign-up with Tuition Management Systems (TMS).

Loans

There are multiple types of educational loans available to graduate students.  These include the Stafford Loan and alternative loans.

Students who wish to borrow a loan must complete the FAFSA and a Graduate Enrollment Worksheet .

In addition to the Stafford and Alternative Loans, graduate students are eligible to borrow a PLUS.  In order to qualify for a PLUS, you must file a FAFSA, exhaust all Stafford Loan eligibility for the year and be credit-worth as deemed by the lender.
