Nursing at Wagner

For students interested in pursuing our Nursing program directly after high school, simply follow the regular application process. No special application is required.

Second Bachelor's Degree (B.S. in Nursing - 15 month program)

Priority Consideration: February 15, 2014
Final Deadline: May 1, 2014 for fall 2014 semester
This program is an option for students who have already earned a Bachelor's degree in a different field. Acceptance into this program is contingent upon successful completion of a Bachelor's degree, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, satisfactory completion of all Nursing prerequisites, and a satisfactory score on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V). Please submit all of the following items:
  • Common Application for Transfer Admission
  • Personal statement/essay
  • Official College or University transcript(s)
    • Minimum GPA requirement: 3.0 cumulative
  • Successful completion of all prerequisite courses
    • Biology (4 units):
      • Human Anatomy & Physiology I with lab
      • Human Anatomy & Physiology II with lab
      • Microbiology with lab
      • Nutrition
    • One of the following courses:
      • Psychology - Introduction to Psychology
      • Sociology - Principles of Sociology
      • Anthropology - Introduction to Anthropology
  • Satisfactory results on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V)
    • To be taken after initial clearance by the Admissions Office
  • Two letters of recommendation

RN to B.S. in Nursing program

Wagner College has a program to assist graduates from other types of nursing education programs in earning their Bachelor of Science degree. Applicants must have a current Registered Nursing License. These students may receive credit from other colleges to meet the liberal arts prerequisites for the Wagner Nursing program. The last 9 units (or 30 credits) of any degree must be earned at Wagner College. Units earned through proficiency examinations, life experiences, etc. cannot be counted as part of these required 9 units. A validation of previous learning through clinical proficiency is accessed via proficiency exams and is offered upon admission through the School of Nursing. Transfer Admission to the Nursing program

Current Wagner students interested in declaring Nursing as their major should contact the Nursing faculty.
Students must be matriculated at Wagner College for one year (two semesters; not including summer) prior to beginning Nursing Program.
After one year of matriculation at Wagner College, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, required prerequisite courses (completed with a grade of C+ or higher), and a satisfactory score on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V) for entry into the Nursing Program. Summer courses between sophomore and junior year will not be considered.
