Event: Wagner Alumni Day of Service
Hosted by: Wagner College Alumni Association & Center for Leadership & Engagement
Date:   May 3, 2014
Time: 9:15 a.m.
Where: Lt. Charles Margiotta Playground (previously known as the Anning S. Prall Playground), Corner of Forest Avenue & Elizabeth Street (behind I.S. 27), Staten Island, NY

Join Wagner alumni and students for the inaugural Alumni Day of Caring. If you are not able to volunteer on May 3, you can still be part of the Wagner Alumni Day of Service--learn how below.

The day will feature a volunteer project at the Lt. Charles Margiotta Playground (formerly called the Anning S. Prall Playground), located behind I.S. 27 on Staten Island. The playground is used on a daily basis by students attending I.S. 27, and Wagner volunteers will help to beautify this important part of I.S. 27. Projects will include painting parts of the playground, helping to create a mural for the school and gardening around flower beds to name a few. Note: Volunteers will not need to climb ladders to complete painting assignments. Guests of alumni volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

The Wagner Alumni Day of Caring project has been created in partnership with New York Cares. New York Cares was founded by a group of friends who wanted to take action against serious social issues that faced our city in the late 1980s. Finding few options to help, they created their own organization to address the problems from the ground up. New York Cares is now the city's largest volunteer management organization, running volunteer programs for 1,300 nonprofits, city agencies, and public schools. Learn more about New York Cares.
