This job-search workshop, “Using Social Media to Launch Your Career,” is the second such workshop presented at Wagner College by Ethan Chazin, “the compassionate coach.” (You’ll find the first workshop, “Branding Seminar,” elsewhere on our website.) In today’s hyper-competitive job market, Chazin says, it is absolutely necessary for you to align your online and offline branding efforts in order to gain truly competitive differentiation. Career Conversations is an event that connects Wagner alumni and parents with today’s Wagner students for conversations about all things related to careers: education, finding the right path, and how to get your foot in the door. Students are invited to meet with alumni as they share their wisdom, advice, and experiences.

Career Conversations will take place at the Cornell Club in midtown Manhattan. Buses to the event will be leaving campus at 6:00pm; students attending Career Conversations are welcome to reserve a seat on the bus or arrive at the event via their own means. The networking event will begin at 6:30pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be available during the networking reception.

This event and the bus transportation into the city are free for all students. This event is open to students of all class years and majors. This event will be particularly useful for juniors and seniors planning on interviewing in the upcoming months for internships and full-time jobs.

Professional business attire (business suit, tie, dress shoes, etc.) is required.

Registration is required. Seating on the bus to the city is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must register by April 26, 2013 if you wish to attend. Click here to register.

Interviewing and networking can be difficult, especially when you have to do them within the context of a business meal. These days, because so many professional development opportunities occur in business meal settings, dining etiquette plays an essential role in your professional life and prospects. Please join us for Working the Table – The Business Etiquette Dinner, where you can learn the “do’s” and “don’ts” of business meal etiquette.

This FREE event is open to students of all class years and and majors. Due to the subject matter, it will be particularly useful for juniors and seniors hoping to interview in the upcoming months for internships and full-time jobs.

FREE Practice Exams – GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, DAT, OAT, and PCAT

On Saturday, February 23rd, Kaplan is holding a FREE Practice Test for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, DAT, OAT, or PCAT. The event will be more convenient than ever as you’ll be able to take the exam live and online in our Classroom Anywhere environment, available from anywhere you have internet access.

As space is limited, this event requires pre-registration. However, a number of seats have been reserved for Wagner students. Once registered, you will receive unique log-in information that you will use to enter Kaplan’s state-of-the-art, online classroom and begin the exam. Take the test from home, the library, a coffee shop, or even an open computer lab on campus.

Each test will last up to 4 hours and will be proctored like an actual exam. Students will receive their score immediately following the exam. After the test, one of our expert instructors will give a short workshop on test-taking strategies and will answer any questions that you may have.

This is a great opportunity for you to see how you might score on the real thing, and also to become familiar with the kinds of questions that will be on the real test. For most students, this exam will be a more realistic test-taking experience as you can practice in the format that mirrors nearly all graduate school exams.

3/20, Wednesday – Majors Fair – Union Atrium

Deciding on a major is one of the most important steps you will take in college. You may be following the requirements for a major, but you still need to submit a Declaration of Major form. Ready to choose a major? Join us for the 5th Annual Majors Fair on Wednesday, March 20 this 12 to 2 p.m. in the Atrium (Union, 3rd
floor). There will be representatives from various academic departments as well as Career Development and Academic Advisement staff who can answer questions about majors, including specific requirements for each major, and advise you on how to navigate your academic and career planning options. This March 20 event is scheduled ahead of the sophomore registration period for summer and fall classes, which begins April 8, so it is an ideal time to declare your major!

Are you considering applying for and attending law school?

Learn about the law school admissions process, application tips, and the structure and scoring of the LSAT exam. Learn how to create a compelling application, including tips on personal statements and letters of recommendation.

This presentation is ideal for sophomores and juniors who think that law school may be a possible career path for them, either immediately after graduation or a few years later.

The presentation will be led by Phil Glick. Mr. Glick has been working for Kaplan since November of 2004. He teaches and tutors the LSAT, GMAT and GRE tests.

2/20, Wednesday (630-800) – Kaplan MCAT Presentation – (Manzulli)

Preview a Kaplan MCAT Class for free. Learn valuable strategies and methods to raise your MCAT score. An expert MCAT teacher will provide information on the structure and scoring of the exam, strategies you can use on tough question types, and an overview of Kaplan’s MCAT course and materials.

The presentation will be led by Sofia Gilels. Ms.Gilels majored in Biochemistry and Psychology at NYU with a minor in Hebrew & Judaic Studies. She had an absolutely amazing experience herself when she took the course and loves bringing the same success and encouragement when she teaches; she believes the strategies work and the classroom experience is an engaging and fun way to learn the content in a completely new way and to excel on the MCAT.

The presentation will take place in Manzulli Boardroom, Foundation Hall, on Wednesday, February 20 from 630 to 800.
