It is the bridge that connects your experiences in class, across campus, and around New York City to your specific goals for tomorrow. Each of the topics below allow you the opportunity to earn college credit for the classroom instruction and off campus activities that you will participate in. Each of the academic programs (Science & Philosophy and Art & History) will grant 2 units per program or the equivalent of 6 credits that are generally transferrable to other similar colleges. The Dance Intensive and the Music Theatre Institute will provide 1 unit each or the equivalent of 3 credits each that are also generally transferrable. Upon successful completion of all programs and coursework, students will receive an official Wagner College transcript reflecting credits earned.

Science & Philosophy

Batman, Spiderman, the Avengers, the Watchmen, Iron Man…these are just some of the graphic novels that have jumped to the fore in recent pop culture. These novels raise interesting ethical and scientific issues. For example, is Batman’s vigilantism justified? Is it justified to kill in order to prevent nuclear war? Is it hypocritical to manufacture weapons and save innocent lives as Ironman? What is the relationship between ethical obligation, technology and science?

Art & History

New York City boasts the nation’s richest treasure trove of cultural sites and historic landmarks. Dance Intensive

This Dance Intensive program provides both intermediate and advanced high school students an opportunity to immerse themselves in nine intensive days of dance, learning technique and musical theatre dance performance with Rusty Curcio, Wagner College’s head dance instructor along with other master dance instructors and guest artists.  Students will receive the most rigorous dance training in ballet and musical theatre dance along with attending workshops that will be provided by working professionals from both Broadway and Concert Dance professions. Students will have the opportunity to spend time in Manhattan at a professional dance event, enjoying the excitement and intrigue of the city.

Summer Music Theatre Institute

Summer Music Theatre Institute (SMTI) gives high school students from around the country the opportunity to learn from theatre professionals in the Wagner College and New York City community about all aspects of music theatre performance. In this two-week, on-campus intensive, students receive rigorous, college caliber training in acting, singing, improvisation, and dancing–taught in a supportive, professional environment. Students gain insights into the professional world of New York City theatre through visits from industry experts and trips to Broadway productions.
