Award Description: The Rev. Dr. Frederic Sutter Service Award was created through the generosity of Maria Hartmann to honor her great-grandfather, the Rev. Dr. Frederic Sutter, founder of the Wagner College’s Staten Island campus. Each year, the Sutter Service Award is granted to a Wagner College junior who embodies the Seahawk spirit of Community Engagement and Leadership. Award recipients go beyond the scope of curriculum requirements to demonstrate their commitment to the service of Wagner College and the greater community by participating in clubs, volunteering, interning, running programs or organizations, and taking on important leadership roles. Sutter Award winners are change agents in their community, passionate about issues of social justice, and committed to connecting their liberal arts education and work in the greater community.
