Lynn TayMy name is Lynn Tay, and I am going to be a sophomore at Wagner this fall.  I am from Sacramento, California and I am a Biology major with a Chemistry and an English minor.  I am part of the Wagner Swimming and Diving Team, as well as the Pre-Dentistry Society.  Some of my favorite things to do is to read, write, listen to music, and spend time with my family.  I also enjoy traveling and exploring new cultures and meeting new people.  This summer, I will be traveling a lot, first down to Southern California, then I will be halfway around the world in Singapore for seven weeks!  Have a great summer, everybody, and stay posted for stories of my upcoming endeavors!

“Ohana” Means Family

By Nicole Fallon On June 17, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Nikki Fallon
Greetings from Spain! It’s hard to believe that 12 days ago I was freaking out about coming to  Spain and now I keep wondering what I was so worried about. It’s only been 12 days but to me it feels like I’ve been here for months! So to get some inspiration on a good blog for ya’ll (I’m picking up some Texas swag from my American friends from Texas) I decided to browse my pictures [...]

Python; Or How to Swallow Something Bigger Than Your Head

By Carrie Holt On June 13, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Beyond NY, Carrie Holt
We’ve all been there. Everyone has come to that looming cloud of doom and terror that we have no choice but to endure. It also takes the form of a never ending mountain of tasks or encyclopedias of information you must somehow fit inside your brain. In my case, the seemingly impossible comes in the form of a computer programming language. This past weekend, I went to the Smithsonian National Zoo with my [...]

The First Week In Guatemala

By Christian Grotewold On June 13, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Beyond NY, Christian Grotewold
The first few days of being back home proved to be very packed and entertaining. I thought that I would not be going out too much, or that there would not be too many fun events in the first few days, but I was wrong. The first event of the summer was the Academic Award Ceremony of my old high school. My younger sister received a Drama Award for her outstanding performances in that class, so [...]

The Final Days in NY

By Christian Grotewold On June 7, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Christian Grotewold, Part of NYC
Before going back to Guatemala and officially starting my summer break, I decided to stay for a few more days after graduation in New York. At first I thought that I would not have anything to do, but then I remembered that it is New York City — there are plenty of things to do. My adventures began right after graduation when I was invited to the house of one of my brothers to celebrate [...]

“Hi, my name is Carrie and I love space.”

By Carrie Holt On June 6, 2013 · 1 Comment · In Beyond NY, Carrie Holt
For most of my college life, I have been known by many endearingly as “that space girl.” Throughout the past three years at every get-to-know-you activity, my fun-fact introduction has always been, “Hi, My name is Carrie and I love space.” As of March, I have now become “NASA girl” due to my current summer internship at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. And I don’t hate it. I promise I [...]

Graduation

By Christian Grotewold On May 29, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Christian Grotewold, On campus
One of the many reasons I decided to stay for a while longer after final exams was graduation. I wanted to see my close friends and many of my brothers, including my big brother, graduate. It is a very emotional day with many happy tears. But before graduation even happens, there is what we call “Senior Week,” an entire week of special plans and parties for the graduating seniors. The events range from a Wet [...]

The Final Greek Event of the Year

By Christian Grotewold On May 24, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Christian Grotewold, Part of NYC
This year came and went so fast that it seems like only yesterday when I first introduced myself on HawkTalk. Being in a Greek organization, one of our many exclusive events is our final event, which we call “Formal.” Formal is basically a type of dance where all the brothers invite dates to a nice hotel to enjoy dinner and a night of dancing. Every Greek house has its own formal and members of other [...]

Wagnerstock and Big Name

By Christian Grotewold On April 26, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Christian Grotewold, On campus
On April 20th, Wagner College held its annual Wagnerstock and Big Name events. These two events are one of the most anticipated activities Wagner plans for the spring semester. Wagnerstock is basically a day out in the Oval, kind of like an Oval Day, but with activities and many free things. Big Name is the night concert that Wagner plans with an artist that is popular right now. This day is basically dedicated to art [...]

Enthusiasm Can Bring You Far: ECSC ’13

By Lynn Tay On April 24, 2013 · Leave a Comment · In Beyond NY, Lynn Tay
One thing I learned this weekend when I went to Providence College with friends, peers, and professors is that enthusiasm can bring me to unexpected places and great people. This past Saturday, I had one of the best, well-spent, and enjoyable days I have had so far here at Wagner College.  Never would I have imagined that a science conference was as exciting as it was at Providence College on April 20, 2013.  I had [...]
