We Will Carry the Word

An original Holocaust play directed by Theresa McCarthy, We Will Carry the Word captures key moments in the testimony of 15 Holocaust survivors from Germany to Romania. Students perform using the techniques of Anna Devere Smith to embody the accents, gestures and expressions of the survivors. It includes scenes from Tony Kushner and Charlotte Delbo plays as well. This performance was the culmination of a Holocaust film, theater, video and art course co-taught by Prof. Lori Weintrob and Theresa McCarthy. Students from Manhattan Day School attended the performance at Wagner College Stage One theater. Filmed by Joel Bibula of SI-Community TV. Watch We Will Carry the Word
