Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Admissions

 

JOB PURPOSE:  Wagner College seeks an articulate, responsible, high-energy person for the position of Admissions Counselor or Assistant Director of Admissions. The primary responsibilities include representing the College to prospective undergraduate and graduate students, student recruitment, and application review. The appointed title will depend upon the experience level of the applicant.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions: Duties include management of recruitment territory; effective communication and relationship building with prospective applicants, parents, and secondary school counselors; participation in on and off-campus recruitment events; interviewing students and reviewing applications for admission to the College; delivering presentations to various audiences regarding Wagner College. 

 QUALIFICATIONS            

  •  Work Experience: Previous admissions experience helpful, but not required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; an ability to articulate the value of a liberal arts education preferred. 
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license.                 
  • Desired Work Traits:  Demonstrated interest in working with people and a propensity for detail.
  • Communication/Interpersonal Skills:  Strong written and oral communication skills a must.

 SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Seasonal evening and weekend work.  Required travel to participate in college fairs, high school visits, and off-campus programs.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting – One – Year Appointment

The Department of Business Administration—offering a B.S. in five concentrations; a M.S. in Accounting; and three MBA programs—seeks to fill a visiting assistant professor position beginning fall 2013. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses and must possess an excellent record of teaching. Experience with corporate business/accounting, online course delivery, on-line Tax Preparation software, and VITA program are a plus. Educational qualification requirements include an MBA plus CPA certification.

Assistant Professor Biochemistry/Microbiology

The Department of Biological Sciences seeks an individual at the Assistant Professor level (tenure track) for a position beginning in the fall term, 2013. Candidates should have a strong background in biochemistry and expertise in microbiology. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree and will teach undergraduate courses in biochemistry, as well as courses in microbiology. The candidate will regularly interact with the Department of Chemistry, however, the tenure home will be in the Department of Biological Sciences. Research involving undergraduates and microbiology graduate students is expected. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.

General Call for Education Adjunct Faculty

The Education Department at Wagner College is looking to build a network of committed professionals who wish to become important partners in our undergraduate and graduate programming by teaching courses, participating in professional development opportunities, and providing feedback for our programs.  We count particularly on adjunct faculty to support program quality and improvements.

We offer general education/special education dual certification programs in Childhood, Secondary, and Early Childhood education; advanced certification in Teaching Literacy and School Building Leadership; and are developing TESOL and Bilingual certification and degree programs.  We welcome applications from potential adjuncts who would be interested in being considered for courses that come available and who would like to become more deeply connected with the Department.  We keep applications on file for two years.

English Adjunct

English adjunct position, spring 2013, Wagner College, Staten Island, NY. Two courses are available: Creative Writing (EN 329) and American Literature from World War I to the Present (EN 319). Meeting times are MW 2:40-4:10 and MW 6-7:30, respectively. Pay is $2000 per course (total $4000). Classes are capped at 18 students.

The Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing at Wagner College, a National League of Nursing Center of Excellence, seeks an individual at the Assistant Professor level (tenure track) for a position beginning in the fall term, 2013. Candidates should have a doctorate and masters in Nursing, preferably a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. In addition, the successful candidate should be licensed as an RN in New York State; a nationally boarded Family Nurse Practitioner is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience and are qualified to teach across all nursing programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
