The Wagner College Filmmaking Technique class is designed to encourage and inspire creativity through the art of filmmaking. Your child will experience the filmmaking industry through script writing, storyboarding, acting, directing, camera and sound operating and editing to make their own short film.

This class encourages children to develop self-confidence and critical thinking skills while fostering creative expression and collaboration in a fun environment. With an engaging combination of lecture, hands-on exercises, small group activities, writing and discussion, participants:

  • Learn film vocabulary, basic filmmaking technique, and history as a foundation for movie appreciation
  • Create a short film (camera shots, story development, story boarding, screenwriting, acting, lighting, sound and directing)

Your child will receive hands-on experience as they step into the roles of screenwriters, actors, directors and crew, and learn the importance of working as a team. Other areas of exploration will include editorial and narrative structure, rhythm and pace. Working in teams, groups will complete one short film, premiered the last day of class.
