A blood drive will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Union 201 from 12 to 6 p.m. each day. Blood for our community is desperately needed. Over 2,000 men, women and children in our surrounding community — including cancer, transplant and surgery patients, trauma victims, newborn babies and many others — need blood transfusions each day. Here are some blood donor facts:
- 1 in 3 people will need blood in their lifetime
- There is NO substitute for human blood
- Blood keeps only 42 days in a laboratory
- College campuses around the U.S. are the biggest donators of blood, saving precious lives
Giving blood is one of the most charitable things you can do. To donate, you must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 100 pounds and not have donated blood within the last 56 days. Please bring a photo ID to donate. The blood donation procedure takes around 15 minutes, after which you will be given refreshments and rest — the whole time is less than 1 hour.
