National School Walkout Day

March 14, 2018 @ 9:40 am - 11:10 am
Wagner Union Patio

We need your support!

Though it was one of many, last months shooting at a high school in Florida which left 17 people dead has re-traumatized Americans and reminded us again of the ongoing problems of gun violence and mass shooting in this country. Shootings such as the one in Florida bring to light the enormous problem of gun violence in this country which extends greatly beyond highly publicized mass shootings. Since the shooting in Florida, students across the country have been organizing actions to stop gun violence in this country by asking Congress to take meaningful action and pass federal laws to address this public health crisis.

This Wednesday at 10am, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to walkout of class or work and join with people who are tired of lawmakers who put their personal wealth and ambition over concern for the people who elected them and neglect to write and pass gun control legislation, agree that schools should be safe and that guns don’t belong in the hands of teacher’s, and believe that good mental health should be accessible to and a priority for all U.S. citizens.

Please join us at 10am on the Union Patio on March 14th. The rally will last 17 minutes for the 17 victims.

This event is being organized by Women of Wagner.
