CANCELED: ‘Bamboozled’ screening
The screening of Spike Lee’s “Bamboozled,” previously scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. in Spiro 2, has been canceled.
Tribute to Black Music
On Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 9 p.m. in the Campus Hall Performance Center, join the Wagner College Music Department and the Office of Co-Curricular Programs for the ninth annual Tribute to Black Music. The program will include performances by Wagner College Choir, the Chamber Singers, Stretto vocal ensemble, Espresso vocal jazz ensemble and the Wagner College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Ben Sher, featuring special guest vocalist Miles Griffith and the amazing Dorian Lake. A fine band made up of Mike Hogan (guitar), Barbara Lee (piano), Ben Sher (bass) and David Clive (drums) will back soloists and ensembles, rocking the hall with blues, jazz, jump and jive, and general musical mayhem of the highest order. The selections will range from traditional spirituals and gospel music, modern jazz, many varieties of the blues, funk and calypso. Tributes to Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King will open the program, and the music of Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Ray Charles, Nat Cole, Charlie Parker and Willie Dixon will be featured.
