Wagner College Choir Send-Off Concert @ Trinity Church
For their traditional Send-Off Concert on the eve of its 2016 Concert Tour of Florida, Wagner College Choir, the Chamber Singers and Stretto vocal ensemble continue to develop their theme of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
Sacred music by Renaissance and Baroque masters Hassler, Tallis, Schütz, and Pachelbel will be performed along with new works by Arvo Pärt, Eric Whitacre, James MacMillan, Carson Cooman, Dan Forrest, and Will Todd. The second half of the concert explores a sense of place, with colorful works by Basque composer Javier Busto, Costa Rican Julio Fonseca, Venezuelan Antonio Estévez, Beatle John Lennon, and vocal virtuosi TAKE 6. Barbara Wesby’s A New York Triptych celebrates three moments in the city’s history, Roger Wesby’s I Will Arise remembers the Charleston Nine and a special vocal big band recreates Frank Sinatra’s classic recording of “All or Nothing at All.”
