Tabling for Generation Citizen

January 26, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Wagner Union Atrium

A national based non-profit, Generation Citizen, is seeking service oriented Wagner students to serve as interns for the upcoming spring semester. Generation Citizen interns, called Democracy Coaches, partner with teachers in public school classrooms to teach an innovative action-based civics curriculum. Democracy Coaches help students identify a community issue that matters to them, create an action plan to address the issue, and then take real-world action on it.

Your students will lobby elected officials, write opinion pieces for newspapers, and make documentaries to advance solutions to important community issues. Each semester culminates in “Civics Day” (think science fair for civics) where students from all five boroughs come together to present their projects to elected officials and community leaders.

Students who want to apply for the stipend-paid Spring internship should fill out the online application by February 6th, 2017. Generation Citizen’s Wagner campus leadership - Katelyn Alcott and Mahina Tagiles - will be conducting interviews on a rolling basis and the program itself begins with a training in mid/late February.

Commitment: 5-7 hours per week

Applications Due: February 6th, 2017

Questions? Katelyn (katelyn.alcott@wagner.edu), Mahina (mahina.taglies@wagner.edu), or GC’s Program Associate Nora Howe (nhowe@generationcitizen.org)
