Film screening with Prof. Brett Palfreyman
At the Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor (1000 Richmond Terrace, Bldg. A), join Wagner College history professor Brett Palfreyman for “Chekhov in Staten Island on Film,” a program of clips from an upcoming film, “The Black Monk,” based on the short story by Anton Chekhov and set on Staten Island. Palfreyman will explore the impact of tuberculosis on Chekhov and in the short story, as well as the history of tuberculosis on Staten Island. He will be joined in discussing the film by Hunter College Chekhov scholar Nadya Peterson and “Black Monk” filmmakers Marylou and Jerome Bongiorno. The program is free with admission to the Staten Island Museum.
Michala Williams Senior Recital
Senior music major Michala Williams will be presented in recital this Sunday, April 2 at 4 p.m. in the Campus Hall Performance Center. The first half will include works by Handel, Obradors and Debussy, with piano accompaniment by Ok Kyun Kang. The second half will features works by Stephen Flaherty, India Arie, Chrisette Michele and Israel Houghton, accompanied on piano by Brett Williams. The public is invited. There is no charge.
Broadway Cares Benefit Concert
This Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in Stage One, the Theatre Advisory Board is holding a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS titled, “A Celebration of the Women of Broadway.” Tickets are $5 with a student ID.
