August 25 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Wagner Union Art Gallery

Please join us at the Wagner College Gallery for an exhibition of illustrations by Robert Geronimo from his new graphic novel, “Blood Realm,” published by Alterna Comics, part of its popular “Back to Newsprint” line of comic books.

The exhibition will open with an artist’s reception in the gallery on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., and will run through Saturday, Sept. 1.

Signed copies of “Blood Realm” will be available for purchase at the reception.

The gallery is located in the Union Building on the Wagner campus at 631 Howard Ave., Staten Island.

The Wagner College Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday until 9 p.m.

Both the reception and the exhibition are free and open to the public.

“ ‘Blood Realm’ mixes history, religion, fantasy and horror in one nightmarish tale,” Geronimo says. “The book has a gothic flair, merging my passions for art history — specifically, works from the medieval period — and comic books.”

“Blood Realm” follows the perilous journey of the Sisters of Silence, three supernatural beings that embark on a treacherous quest over brutal landscapes to overcome fearsome beasts and a bloodthirsty general. Pursued by the vicious General Gorn and his army of ruthless warriors, the sisters must reach the Tower of Penance, where an ancient evil is harbored, before the general can obtain and use its power to obliterate the last kingdom of men.

As a visual story told in graphic black and white illustrations, “Blood Realm” is an intimate exploration into a nightmarish world steeped in dark fantasy and horror. Death, danger and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific universe.

Geronimo earned his bachelor of arts degree from Wagner College, a masters degree in art history from Brooklyn College and a master of fine arts degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
