Wagner College will be honoring Prof. Anthony Turner of the Music Department and junior Psychology major, Gabby Oloapu from Auckland, New Zealand on February 23 at 6pm in the Union Atrium, with our MLK Agent of Change Awards.

The MLK Agent of Change Award is given to individuals who embody Dr. Martin Luther King's commitment to bettering our community.

Prof. Turner is a professor of voice, and challenges his students to find their story while developing their figurative and literal voices. He volunteers to support initiatives on campus involving students of color, the Mandela Washington Fellows and is a valued member of his faith community off campus at St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery.

Gabby is a junior from Auckland, New Zealand who plays attack on our back-to-back MAAC championship Water Polo Team. She served as the Orientation Coordinator for new student orientation, the Coordinator for the LEAD minority mentorship program and has worked in partnership with leaders in the SGA and BSU to host a rally supporting student activism on campuses across the country and co-authored the Declaration of Change document, which highlights issues students would like the administration at Wagner College to address that might create a more welcoming and inclusive community.

In addition to remarks from Dr. McNair, this event will feature presentations from student leaders Hadeel Mishal and Tyler Ross with a keynote address given by the College’s Chaplain, Rev. Martin Malzhan. There will be a wine and cheese reception to follow the ceremony.
