A Story on Mental Health: Remembering T.J.
This program gives students, parents and educators a view of what teen depression can look like and educates them to pay attention to their mental health and emotions, something that is often pushed to the side. They describe many of the red flags that are often dismissed as typical teenage behavior. Their story gives hope to teens who may be struggling and don’t know what to do with how they’re feeling. It empowers teens to look outside themselves to their friends and classmates, and gives parents and teachers knowledge to help understand their teens a little better and to help differentiate between typical teen behavior and something more.
Film screening: ‘Not My Life’
Filmed on five continents, in a dozen countries, Not My Life takes viewers into a world where millions of children are exploited, every day, through an astonishing array of practices including forced labor, domestic servitude, begging, sex tourism, sexual violence, and child soldiering. The film screening will be followed by a discussion. Our goal is to spread awareness among the Wagner community of human trafficking.
STUPID F**KING BIRD
“Stupid F**king Bird” by Aaron Posner, directed by Mickey Tennenbaum. On the grounds of a country estate, two generations of Russians mope and love and hate in this heartbreaking, hilarious sort-of-adaptation that takes a baseball bat to Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull.” Welcome to the wild world of “Stupid F**king Bird,” where Chekhov’s story of love, art and a hapless bird gets an hysterical, contemporary makeover.
