Wagner College is pleased to announce that investment analyst and Fox News commentator Charles V. Payne will deliver the fifth annual Kaufman-Repage Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in Spiro Hall, Room 2. Payne's lecture is titled, "America at a Crisis: Not Settling for Mediocrity." The lecture is free, and the public is invited.
Payne’s passion for the stock market began as a 14-year-old in Harlem when he told his mother that, one day, he would work on Wall Street. During his tour of duty in the United States Air Force, Payne attended Minot State College and Central Texas College. He began his Wall Street career as an analyst at E.F. Hutton in 1985. In 1987, he accepted a position with Greentree Securities, a “boutique brokerage” firm. Four years later, Payne founded Wall Street Strategies Inc., an independent stock market research firm, where he is currently chief executive officer and principle analyst.
Payne’s first book, “Be Smart, Act Fast, Get Rich: Your Game Plan for Getting It Right in the Stock Market,” was published in 2007. Later that year he joined the Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel as a contributor, where he has a daily role on “Varney & Co.” and guest hosts several other shows, including “Your World” and “Beck.” He is also the host of “The Charles Payne Show” on KFI-AM, a Los Angeles talk radio station.
Payne serves on the board of directors of the South Bronx Classical Charter School. In 2009, he was awarded the Congress of Racial Equality’s Man of the Year award.
