On Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Campus Hall 201, please join Prof. Katica Urbanc for a lecture and film screening, in Spanish, by screenwriter and director Inés París. París will open her presentation with a screening of her short film, “La radio de Batuma,” which was filmed in Mali. She will speak about her latest project, “Ellas son Africa (They are Africa),” which examines the role of women in four African countries.
Born in Madrid, Inés París holds a degree in philosophy with a specialization in aesthetics from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid. She began her professional training in the theater as an actress and later as a stage designer. She is the director and screenwriter of “My Mother Likes Women (A Mi Madre le Gustan las Mujeres),” a comedy on the changing roles of Spanish women that was highly praised by critics in Europe. Today Inés París is the president of the Association of Women Film Directors in Spain.
