Presented by Provost Devorah Lieberman:
Chemistry and Physics professor Greg Falabella’s actual contributions to Wagner College are nearly immeasurable. It would be easy to quantify the numbers of committees on which he has served or the roles he has made. However, that only tells part of the story. Every committee or role he has accepted or assumed has benefitted deeply from his participation. There are few that have the integrity or commitment that Greg has demonstrated since arriving at the college. He approaches each of these college responsibilities with the principle that his opinion, recommendations and decisions are never based on what is best for him personally, but rather what is best for the students or for the college. I can turn to Dr. Falabella and ask his opinion and know that he will be basing his logic on the needs of the college and its students. He is the epitome of moving from “Me” to “We.”
A few of the responsibilities and leadership roles he has assumed are: department chair, Pre-Physician Assistant Program coordinator, editor in chief of the Wagner College Forum for Undergraduate Research, Hearing and Appeals Committee, co-chair of the Middle States assessment self-study finance committee, Resources and Facilities Subcommittee, Honors Committee, Parking Appeals Board, Pre-Health Committee, and frequent participation in Campus Visit Day.
When Dr. Falabella assumes a “service” responsibility, he never takes that role lightly. He is not only a fully contributing and participating member of the group, but usually takes on a leadership role (as asked by others). This is based on the trust he has acquired from his colleagues because of the consistent integrity he demonstrates. I am honored to give Dr. Greg Falabella the 2010 Faculty Service Award.
