The 13th annual Chai Society Community Mitzvah Awards dinner, an evening of entertainment and to recognize community members who have demonstrated noteworthy achievement, commitment to and promotion of Jewish life and culture. We are proud to honor our distinguished 2017 honorees: Rachel Roth (Special Recognition Award), Rabbi Gerald Sussman, Melissa Rabinovich, and Mark Weissman (Outstanding Community Member Award), and Julia Loria ’17 (Outstanding Student Award).
Proceeds of this year’s dinner will support the Wagner College Holocaust Education & Programming Center, the first of its kind on Staten Island, whose mission is to educate future generations about prejudice, anti-Semitism and racism as well as create a space for learning and reflection.

The Wagner College Guild was founded in 1918 to assist and support Wagner students, who at that time were Lutheran seminarians. Women from the Lutheran synods of Staten Island, Brooklyn, New Jersey and Long Island would provide meals, sew buttons and offer other services to the students.
Today, the Guild has over 200 members and supports the college with fundraising efforts and scholarships.
The next meeting will be Oct. 12 at noon in the Faculty Dining Room.
