Advisement for students in the Higher Education and Learning Organizations Leadership Masters Program.
Join us on April 6th at 7pm for a screening of "Loving". (Doors will open at 6pm)
This film is the story of Mildred and Richard Loving and is based on the couple's real life journey to the Supreme Court. In 1967 the decision of Loving v Virginia struck down the existing laws of the day in which interracial marriages were illegal, and under which the Lovings, an interracial married couple, were faced with either jail or exile from Virginia. Loving v Virginia was a major civil rights victory and reverberations of this landmark decision is felt today as restrictions on "who may love?" are still being discussed and decided in court houses and coffee houses throughout America.
Immediately after the screening, producer, Jack Turner will conduct a post movie Q & A about the development and filming of the movie!
Admission for all Wagner students is free but we ask that you please RSVP for this event at eventbrite.com.
