Kathleen Ahern received a diploma in Nursing from Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing and a BS and MS in Nursing from Wagner College. Her Ph.D. in Nursing is from Adelphi University. She is a Professor and the Director of Graduate Nursing at Wagner College. Her teaching responsibilities include Advanced Health Assessment, Evidenced Based Practice and the Clinical Scholarly Project Courses for the Doctorate in Nursing Practice. Dr. Ahern is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a NLN certified nurse educator. In addition to her academic roles she served in the Army Reserve Nurse Corp and received the Army Medal of Achievement for performance. She has received the Distinguished Graduate Award from the Wagner College Alumni Association as well as the Graduate Professor of the Year Award. Her research focuses on the older population and women’s health. Her book on the Older Woman: The Able Self focused on women over the age of 85. She is actively engaged in collaborative research and her research has been published in the Journal of Perinatology, Radiology, Gynecological Oncology and Breast Health. She is a Research Analyst Consultant to both nurses and physicians. Dr. Ahern spearheaded the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program development and the New York State application process. She has overseen the DNP Projects since the initiation of the Program.
