Congratulations, Wagner College Theatre alumnus Alex Boniello ’13!
Both Playbill and Broadway World reported today that Boniello, who made his Broadway debut as the Voice of Moritz in Deaf West’s 2015 revival of “Spring Awakening,” will succeed Tony nominee Mike Faist in Broadway’s “Dear Evan Hansen” as the character Connor Murphy beginning May 15.
“Dear Evan Hansen,” now on stage at the Music Box Theatre, won the 2017 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score and Best Orchestration, among others.
Boniello joins two more Wagner College Theatre alums already in the “Evan Hansen” company: Danielle Buccino ’07 and Olivia Puckett ’13.
Buccino has been assistant stage manager for “Dear Evan Hansen” since it opened in 2016.
Puckett, a member of the original cast of “Dear Evan Hansen,” is understudy for the characters of Alana Beck and Zoe Murphy. She previously performed on Broadway in “Motown: The Musical” and on the U.S. tour of “American Idiot.”
More WCT Broadway news: Alumni Ray Wetmore ’07 and J.R. Goodman ’13 had their Broadway opening on the props team of the latest revival of “Carousel,” which opened April 12 at the Imperial Theatre — Wetmore in production properties, and Goodman as production props assistant.
