Wagner welcomes 4 new faculty members

Wagner College welcomes four new members to its faculty at the start of the new academic year.


Dr. Edna Aurelus, Assistant Professor, Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing

Dr. Aurelus is an alumna of Wagner College, where she earned her MSN in the family nurse practitioner program. She earned her DNP in advanced nursing practice from Arizona State University. Dr. Aurelus has extensive experience in psychiatric nursing and mental health; she has worked at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital and with the Department of Corrections, Perryville Prison, the only female prison in Arizona. Her doctoral research focused on prevention of weight gain induced by antipsychotic medications.


Dr. Shani Carter, Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration

Dr. Carter earned her B.A., M.S. and Ph.D. in human resources, labor economics and research methods at Cornell University. Dr. Carter was a professor of management and special assistant to the vice president for academic affairs for outcomes assessment at Rhode Island College. She has also served as department chair at Rhode Island College. Prior to this, Dr. Carter held a faculty position at the University of Scranton. Her research areas include training, cognitive ability, affect, motivation, coefficient alpha and patient satisfaction.


Dr. Racquel C. DeCicco, Assistant Professor, Chemistry Department

Dr. DeCicco received her undergraduate degree from Wagner College and her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Stony Brook University. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. DeCicco served as visiting assistant professor of chemistry at Drew University. She most recently taught at Bard High School Early College in Manhattan. Dr. DeCicco’s research focuses on the synthesis and polymerization behavior of polyynes.


Dr. Cheryl Nadeau, Visiting Assistant Professor, Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing

Dr. Cheryl Nadeau is an alumna of the Wagner College Master of Science Family Nurse Practitioner program. Dr. Nadeau holds a doctor of nursing practice degree from Northeastern University and a master’s degree in public health from NYU. Her MPH focuses on global health leadership. She has served as a former adjunct community health clinical instructor for the undergraduate nursing program at Wagner. Dr. Nadeau has worked with Dr. Dowling-Castronovo to establish the African Refuge Partnership in Community Health in the Park Hill community of Staten Island.
