Psychology Awards
Each academic year, the Psychology Department is pleased to recognize students for their academic excellence. The awards are made based on the decisions of the psychology faculty.
The Dr. Rosemary A. Robbins Psychology Department Award is awarded to a graduating senior in psychology with an outstanding academic record. It is named for Dr. Robbins, class of 1967, who has endowed the award. Dr. Robbins is a psychotherapist in New York.
The Robert de Csipkes Memorial Prize was established by the family of Dr. Robert A. de Csipkes, class of 1966. There are two awards: they are awarded to the graduating seniors in psychology who, in the opinion of the psychology department faculty have outstanding academic and professional potential. Dr. de Csipkes was a counseling psychologist with an interest in behavioral techniques and vocation. He worked at the Naval Air Station in Maine.
The Gertrude Aull Award, which is named after the first chair of the Psychology Department, is presented to the underclass psychology or biopsychology major who has great potential as a psychologist. Dr. Aull was born in Germany. She was a clinical and experimental psychologist who studied Gestalt principles and therapeutic techniques.
Joint awards
The Biopsychology Award is awarded to the outstanding graduate in the biopsychology major (as decided by the faculty of Psychology and Biological Sciences Departments).
The Behavioral Economics Award is awarded to the outstanding graduate in the behavioral economics major (as decided by the faculty of the Psychology Department and the Nicolais School of Business).
