It is my pleasure to welcome you to the home page of the Wagner College Department of Public Safety.

It is the goal of our Department to do everything possible to create an environment where people can feel safe to learn, work and visit. We strive to be “service oriented” which sets us apart from the traditional role of security. We believe that one way to help create such an environment is to fully inform the campus community about issues, campus policies regarding safety and security and the services that the Public Safety Department provides.

Our Public Safety Department is dedicated to serving the Wagner College community through its policies, practices and actions. Many of our trained staff have previous Law Enforcement experience, while others have a solid background in security related work. Collectively, our Public Safety officers have over 250 years of police/law enforcement experience.

All officers are registered with the New York State Department of State (NYSDOS) as required by Section 89-G of Article 7A and have completed the required training as approved by the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

The officers receive continuing training sessions with the U.S. Secret Service, NYPD, NYC Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Wagner College Public Safety Office also collaborates with St. John's University and the College of Staten Island (CSI) in conducting webinars, tabletop exercises, and informal training sessions.
