What to Expect as a Resident

The mission of the Office of Residential Education is to support the Wagner College and Campus Life missions through fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive residential community that supports and challenges student growth and development through educational, social, and leadership opportunities.

About 80% of undergraduate students reside on campus.

When applying to Wagner College, prospective students may request to live on-campus (residential) or off-campus (commuter). Housing for resident students is guaranteed for all four years. Commuter students may become residents during their college career by contacting the Office of Residential Education. Students must be registered for at least 4 units (full-time status) to live on campus.

The Office of Residential Education is committed to providing a residential experience that enhances academic achievement and promotes personal development. We find that students who live on campus are more satisfied with their college experience, earn higher grades and are more likely to graduate.

Yes! Deciding to live on campus means you don’t have to worry about monthly bills like: electricity, heat, water, internet, cable, parking, waste and snow removal, furniture, custodial services, maintenance, and security. You also save time and travel expenses because you are just a short walk from classes, meals, meetings, and friends.

New students are assigned to a room and roommate by our office, based on the answers provided in the lifestyle section of the housing application. All first year students and most transfer students live in Harborview Hall. We also provide transfer students opportunities to live with upperclass students in Towers Hall!

Returning students are invited to participate in Housing Selection which occurs every spring. Students are able to select their room and choose their roommate through this process.

The Office of Residential Education values the roommate experience. Living with a roommate provides an opportunity to appreciate experiences and perspectives different from your own. Students also learn to negotiate differences and achieve resolution through compromise. Living with a roommate can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your college career.

While most students live in double rooms, we do have a limited number of single rooms available for an additional charge. These rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

When students apply for housing they also sign the electronic housing agreement. The housing agreement is a binding contract for the full academic year. Under extreme circumstances, residential students may request to be released from the housing agreement. A committee with representation from the Deans Office, Financial Aid, Bursar, and the Office of Residential Education will review the request. A release from the housing agreement is not guaranteed. Contact the Office of Residential Education at resed@wagner.edu to learn more.
