On Wednesday, Feb. 10, Wagner College hosted a conversation with actor Ali Stroker. Stroker made her Broadway debut as Anna in Deaf West’s revival of “Spring Awakening,” where she was the first actress in a wheelchair to appear on a Broadway stage.

A 2009 NYU Tisch Drama graduate, Ali Stroker won critical acclaim for her performance in “The Twenty-Fifth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” produced by the Philadelphia Theatre Company and the Papermill Playhouse.

Stroker is perhaps best and most widely known among young musical-theater fans for her role in the second season of Oxygen’s “The Glee Project,” where she was a runner-up, earning her a guest spot on the Fox musical comedy series, “Glee.”

“Ali’s personal and professional life are beautifully authentic,” said Felicia Ruff, chairwoman of the Wagner College Theatre & Speech Department. “Our students are big fans; all the work she’s done is huge in their lives.”

Ali Stoker’s visit to Wagner College was co-sponsored by the Wagner College Theatre and the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement.
