The USITT Wagner College Chapter is a nationally affiliated group on campus that wants to help students interested and participating in technical theatre, gain knowledge about the field and help them to share the knowledge they have gained in the past. This year many of the group’s members will be attending the National USITT conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.
T.A.B. (Theatre Advisory Board) is the student council for the theatre department. The board is comprised of elected representatives from each class and concentration within the department. Our focus is the interests and wellbeing of theatre students. Similarly, T.A.B. works as a direct liaison between the student body and the faculty to maintain clear communication on departmental matters. T.A.B. prides itself in organizing workshops, community service, fundraisers, and social events that create a stronger connection to the professional theatre world, represent itself in the surrounding community, and strengthen the relationships within the department, among faculty and students alike.
Unified Theater is a student-driven initiative that facilitates inclusion of students with disabilities through the performing arts. It started in 2001 at Conard High School in West Hartford, CT and has since spread throughout the country to other high schools and middle schools. Wagner is the first college campus to offer Unified Theater to its students! This year we are pairing up with Lifestyles for the Disabled to make the organization possible. Our mission statement is to let teens lead, let creativity rule and treat people with disabilities as complete and entire equals.
Student Run Musical Theatre (SRMT) was founded to give all students on campus an equal performance oppurtunity regardless of major, class, or experience credits. SRMT produces quality theatre productions for the the community on campus as well as off campus. SRMT does not charge for performances, but rather asks for donations in which a large percentage, if not all of the proceeds are donated to fundraising organizations such as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Make a Wish, to name a couple. SRMT has made a large impact on the Wagner College campus and will continue to in all future endeavors.
Wagner College Dance Club works to bring FREE dance workshops to the campus while creating a community for dancers and dance lovers alike.
