Course Schedule & Majors
You will be able to see your course schedule beginning July 15th in myWagner using your onelogin information. For instructions to set up your wagner.onelogin.com account see https://wagner.edu/it/aap/.
Wagner allows students to take 9 units (9 classes) each academic year. Most incoming freshmen take 4 classes in their first semester and 5 classes in the spring. However, if you are playing a sport that is in-season in the spring, you will be scheduled for 5 classes in the fall when your athletic schedule will be less demanding.
Most students (except theater performance and physician assistant students) will come in as undeclared BS (Bachelor of Science). There is nothing wrong! Even if you have an intended major when you begin at Wagner, you donât officially declare your major until the spring semester of your freshmen year or perhaps even later during your sophomore year. This doesnât mean that you donât take classes towards the major â you can still take classes â you just have to wait to declare until at least the spring semester of your freshman year. This gives you time to explore and learn about the majors at Wagner before you choose an option.
What is a learning community?
Every freshman at Wagner, takes a block of 3 classes as part of their First Year Program (FYP). This block of classes is called a Learning Community. Students are placed in their learning communities based on: preference, past AP and college classes in high school, athletic schedule, intended major and general education requirements at Wagner. Learn more about available learning communities for Fall 2024.
We try our best to place you in your preferred learning communities, however, depending on scheduling and availability, you are not guaranteed a spot in your top choice(s). Please keep in mind that once LCs have been assigned, you will not be able to change them unless there is a problem with the placement such as conflict in schedule. You will not be reassigned to an LC because the option given was not your preference or aligned with your intended major â all LCs âcountâ as they fulfill your general education requirements if the classes are not in your major.
No, as with learning communities we try to place you based on scheduling and availability. Sometimes we will not have a major class option available. In this case, you will get a class that fulfills one of our general education requirements. Yes, you will still have enough time to complete your major classes if you do not get a major class in your first semester!
Advising & Accessibility
No, you do not meet with an advisor to make your schedule for your first semester. We ask that students complete the New Student Form as accurately as possible (including your intended major, learning community preferences, any AP or college classes you took in high school) so that we can place you appropriately for the fall.
Yes! Send your AP scores from the college board to our registrar (registrar@wagner.edu). If you took college classes, have an official transcript from the college sent to our admissions office (admissions@wagner.edu).
