November 27, 2024
To the Wagner community,
I hope everyone has a happy and refreshing Thanksgiving holiday — a time to catch up with family and friends and get some needed rest.
We have had a busy November already.
We hosted hundreds of prospective students and their families at our second Campus Visit Day. I’m so proud to have joined this event with faculty from every division and school, staff from Admissions and many other units across campus, students from SGA, the Bonner Fellowship, the Student Ambassadors, Alumni Board members, and so many academic departments. All had a unique story to tell about why and how Wagner sets students up for success.
Days before that the Holocaust Center organized trips for hundreds of Staten Island middle school students to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan, to learn about Kristallnacht and Jewish attempts to flee Nazism. Delta Nu led a Veterans Day observance on campus. Theatre opened “City of Angels” and women’s field hockey and soccer teams hosted conference semifinal games.
A busy November indeed.
As we near the end of this fall semester — my first at Wagner — with Thanksgiving before us and the long holiday break on the horizon, finals on our minds and stress levels no doubt rising, I ask everyone to take a breath and remember we are in this together. We have faced and overcome challenges this fall, and have most often done so by coming together with respect, patience and understanding.
I am grateful for what you do every day for this institution, and I encourage everyone to build on our momentum by sharing our spirit of community with family, friends, and everyone you encounter off-campus. I look forward to seeing many of you at Midnight Breakfast next week, setting our students up with the energy and excitement for a strong push through final exams.
Thank you,
Jeff
