The DaVinci Society
About Us
Established in spring 2000, the Wagner College DaVinci Society is made possible through the generous support of friends and alumni of the College. Its main purpose is to promote greater understanding of Italy and Italian-American contributions to America’s vibrant democratic culture.
The DaVinci Society of Wagner College supports an annual scholarship to one incoming student from Staten Island with Italian-American heritage each year through funds raised at its Annual DaVinci Awards Dinner. Additionally, DaVinci Society members provide mentorship and internship opportunities to Wagner students, and support campus and community-based programming such as the annual Italian Idol voice competition.
The generosity of the DaVinci Society provides invaluable experiences and knowledge for the students at Wagner College and the community of Staten Island in promoting the value of Italian heritage. The Society is chaired by Robert J. Scamardella, Esq.
The 20th Annual DaVinci Society Scholarship Dinner will be held on:

About our 2025 Scholar Recipients:
Alyssa Bizzarro is a dedicated and ambitious recent graduate of Tottenville High School who will begin undergraduate studies at Wagner College in the Fall of 2025 pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is committed to specializing in pediatric occupational therapy and ultimately establishing her own private practice to serve children and families in the Staten Island community. Demonstrating exceptional work ethic from an early age, Alyssa has maintained consistent employment since age 14, beginning her professional journey at McDonald’s before advancing to her current position at Playa Bowls. Her extensive work experience has cultivated a strong sense of responsibility, time management skills, and determination – qualities that will serve her well in both her academic pursuits and future career aspirations. The values instilled through her upbringing—including dedication, perseverance, and service to others—continue to drive her personal and professional development. These principles shaped her commitment to excellence and her aspiration to make a meaningful impact in the field of pediatric occupational therapy. She looks forward to advancing her academic journey at Wagner College, and feels privileged to serve as this year’s DaVinci Scholar.
Victoria Bizzarro is excited to start her undergraduate journey at Wagner College in Fall 2025 to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Her academic dedication and passion for healthcare motivates her to create meaningful change in the lives of children and families. Her commitment to nursing stems from a deeply personal experience. When she was thirteen, her late grandfather battled aggressive throat cancer. During this difficult time, she witnessed the profound impact that compassionate nurses had on her family. Their kindness, advocacy, and genuine care inspired her desire to provide the same support to others facing similar struggles. Victoria’s internship at GPM Pediatrics has further reinforced her passion for nursing. Working alongside a diverse team of healthcare professionals, she has gained invaluable insight into patient care and developed a profound sense of empathy for both patients and their families. Witnessing the challenges patients faced and the dedication of the nursing staff motivated her to pursue a career where she can provide comfort and advocacy during vulnerable times. Her combination of personal experience, professional exposure, and strong cultural foundation establishes her as a promising future healthcare professional, committed to enhancing the well-being of children through compassionate nursing practice and clinical expertise. Victoria feels privileged to receive the 2025 DaVinci Scholarship.
