About Us
The Wagner College Guild celebrated its 107th anniversary in 2025. The Guild is Wagner’s oldest organization, and faculty wives founded it to support divinity students away from home as they pursue their education. The Guild members provided transportation, sewed buttons, and invited students back to their homes for a home-cooked meal and a respite from their studies. Today, the Guild remains the same as it was over 100 years ago, with its members committed to assisting students in need. This includes the Lila T. Barbes ’40 Wag’40 College Guild Scholarship, awarded to students each year. It also supports the Make a Difference Fund, which provides immediate emergency financial assistance to students in need so that they may continue their education without interruption.

The Guild hosts four luncheons each academic year – in September, December, March, and June – and a special members-only event before the start of the new academic year. Our luncheons feature a guest speaker and a delicious meal designed to inform, entertain, and encourage fellowship. All proceeds from the luncheons benefit the Make a Difference Fund.
We welcome you to join and ensure the Guild remains active and robust for the next 100 years. The 2025-2026 Annual Membership fee is $35, effective August 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026. Today, the Guildâs mission remains unchanged from over 100 years ago, with its members committed to assisting needy students. This includes the Lila T. Barbes â40 Wagner College Guild Endowed Scholarship, awarded to two students yearly. It also supports the Make a Difference Fund, which provides immediate emergency financial assistance to students in need, allowing them to continue their education without interruption.
We are planning exciting programs for 2025-2026! Our luncheons are designed to inform, entertain, and encourage fellowship. Most importantly, the Guild will continue its efforts to support Wagner College students. We welcome you to join and ensure the Guild remains active and strong for the next 100+ years.
The 2025-2026 Annual Membership dues fee is $35, effective August 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026.

- Invitations to a special âmembers onlyâ summer event;
- Voting for the Guild Officers at the annual general membership meeting;
- Information about the current events of Wagner College from the college administration.

The Lila T. Barbes â40 Wagner College Guild Scholarship is awarded to two students yearly. It is named in loving memory of the Guildâs longtime president, Lila T. Barbes â40, who was an invaluable member of the Wagner community for over 70 years. Lila and her husband John “Bunny” ’39, who was Wagnerâs onetime Alumni Director, ensured that the Guild remained active, vibrant, and focused on its mission to help students in need. Their dedication and commitment to Wagner College and the Guild motivate us to do our good work.Â
