The Wagner College Guild celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018. The Guild is Wagner’s oldest organization and was formed by faculty wives to help provide support for the divinity students who were away from home pursuing their education. The Guild members provided transportation, sewed buttons and invited students back to their homes for a home cooked meal and a respite from their studies. Today, the Guild’s mission remains in many ways the same as it was over 100 years ago, with its members committed to assisting students in need. This includes The Lila T. Barbes ’40 Wagner College Guild Scholarship which is awarded to two students each year. As well as supporting the Make a Difference Fund, which provides immediate emergency financial assistance to students in need so that they may continue their education without interruption.

The Guild hosts four luncheons each academic year – in October, December, April and June – as well as special members only events. Given the restrictions due to COVID-19, we have put our in-person get-togethers on hold. However, we are offering virtual Zoom events designed to inform, entertain and encourage fellowship in their place until it is safe to meet again. We welcome you to become a member and ensure that the Guild remains active and strong for the next 100 years. The 2020-2021 Annual Membership fee is $35 and is effective from September 1, 2020 – August 31, 2021. For more information, please contact Karen Kennedy at karen.kennedy@wagner.edu or 718-420-4530.

Guild Spring Zoom – Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. (EST)
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the Guild Spring Zoom! The event will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. Our guest presenter will be Wagner College’s ownPatricia Haspel Tooker ’79 M’95 D’16, Dean of the Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing. Dean Tooker will be joined by Wagner nursing students to give an update about the school of nursing and discuss the challenges and triumphs of nursing in a pandemic.
We ask that attendees make a $10 charitable contribution (or consider donating the usual $38 luncheon fee!) to the Make a Difference Fund, a fund that provides emergency financial aid to students in need. With the impact the pandemic has had on some of our students’ families, support of this fund is needed now more than ever. We always say the more the merrier, so please invite a friend to join our virtual get-together. Link to Zoom will be sent in a confirmation email after registering.
