Virtual Student Sharing Circle: Making spiritual sense of the Coronavirus

Led by Volunteer Chaplain Holly Bonner, this Sharing Circle series allows students to virtually gather and discuss how we can cope with the challenges presented by the pandemic.

Week 1 - Friday, September 25:
How do we make spiritual sense of the coronavirus?
Spirituality is about consciousness. In the midst of this global pandemic, we invite you to share how your personal beliefs and overall attitudes have been impacted in response to COVID 19. Together we will strategies ways to shift our consciousness to help reset our spiritual equilibriums.

Presidential Debate Watch Party

Wagner Votes will be holding a watch party for the first Presidential Debate on September 29th at 9pm in the Gym.

Week 2 - Friday, October 2:
Who am I?
If you dwell on the fear you feed it. When you control your thoughts, you regulate the emotion. And, like anything else, this takes practice and intention. Ask yourself, “Who am I?” Do you want to be strong for others during difficult times or part of the fear pile-on? Do you want to lead real change around the issue or be part of the status quo? We can’t control the virus, but we can control our response to it.

How have my communities been impacted?
Each of us belongs to various community groups and faith-based cohorts. Let’s examine how these integral community-based resources have been impacted by COVID 19. Are there any short term or long-term solutions to current barriers? Join us for a brainstorming session on how we can revitalize our community groups and find support through cooperative resources.

Sanctuary for All: Racial Politics and Black-Brown Solidarity in the 21st Century

October 13 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

For the La Herencia keynote, we will be joined by Jennifer A. Jones Ph.D., Associate Professor of Sociology & Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois, Chicago. The discussion will be moderated by Bernadette Ludwig Ph.D.

How can you change the world by changing within?
Change starts with us and our attitude. Let’s try to keep it as healthy and as positive as possible. We have more power over what is happening than we realize. Just imagine what might occur if all of us used these tools of consciousness to change disasters around the globe. Let’s tap into that power as a collective and see what’s possible!
