Register Social Media
The Office of Communications and Marketing aims to maintain a directory of all active, college-affiliated social media accounts, including but not limited to:
- Academic departments
- Administrative offices
- Student clubs and organizations
- Student Government & Leadership
- Programs
- Athletics (both professional and club sports)
All social media accounts should be managed in conjunction with Wagner’s social media policies.
To request a new account, or register an existing one, please follow the guidelines below.
Things to consider:
A successful social media account requires a serious time commitment and consistent, steady posting to maintain an audience. Before committing to a social media account, please consider the following:
-
What is the goal?
What do you hope to accomplish with a social media account? Define the purpose of your account and how it will serve your audience. Are you raising awareness for a specific academic program? Promoting student life? Reaching out to alumni?
-
Who is the audience?
Knowing who you are trying to target can help determine which social media account would work best for your needs.
-
Do you have the resources and staff to maintain an account?
Under current circumstances, do you have the resources and availability to commit to running a social media account? Accounts need planning, posting, monitoring, and someone to respond to any inquiries. Ask yourself if there is already an existing account you can partner with or submit ideas to.
-
Who will be responsible for it?
Designate a primary account manager (or team) responsible for ongoing maintenance. Do you have a plan in place for transitions if the manager leaves Wagner?
-
How will you create and plan content?
Develop a content calendar outlining posts for at least one to two months before launching. High-quality visuals are essential, especially for Instagram and Facebook, so ensure you have access to relevant images and graphics.
