Stroker is making her Broadway debut as Anna in Deaf West’s revival of “Spring Awakening,” playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre through Jan. 24, where she is the first actress in a wheelchair to appear on a Broadway stage.
A 2009 NYU Tisch Drama graduate, Stroker won critical acclaim for her performance in “The Twenty-Fifth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” produced by the Philadelphia Theatre Company and the Papermill Playhouse.
She is perhaps best and most widely known among young musical-theater fans for her role in the second season of Oxygen’s “The Glee Project,” where she was a runner-up, earning her a guest spot on the Fox musical comedy series, “Glee.”
“Ali’s personal and professional life are beautifully authentic,” said Felicia Ruff, chairwoman of the Wagner College Theatre & Speech Department. “Our students are big fans; all the work she’s done is huge in their lives.”
Ali Stoker’s visit to Wagner College is co-sponsored by the Wagner College Theatre and the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement.
