Reading and Discussion with Poet John Keene

Poet, fiction writer, translator, scholar, and educator John Keene visited Wagner College's campus on Tuesday, November 12 to read his poetry and discuss literature with faculty, staff, and students.

Keene's book Punks: New and Selected Poems won several awards, including the National Book Award for poetry, in 2022. In addition to poetry, he also published the novel Annotations in 1995  and a collection of short stories entitled Counternarratives in 2015.  He collaborated with the visual artist Christopher Stackhouse on a work of poetry titled Seismosis in 2006. He is the 2018 recipient of the prestigious Macarthur "Genius" Fellowship. He is the distinguished professor of English and African American Studies at at Rutgers University-Newark where he teaches  creative  writing and serves as chair of the department of African American and African Studies.
