Citizenship Status & Financial Aid Financial aid eligibility is contingent upon a student's United States citizenship status. Students who file the FAFSA will be asked to confirm their citizenship status (U.S. citizen, Eligible non-citizen or neither). There may be occasions when the FAFSA processing may not be able to confirm a student's citizenship status. At that point, the student may need to provide documentation supporting their citizenship status to Wagner College. This may also involve Wagner College mailing the documentation to the Department of Homeland Security who will confirm or deny a student's eligibility based upon their records and the validity of documentation submitted. Students who are neither a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen are not eligible for federal aid. In addition, those who are not U.S. citizen may be eligible for alternative loans providing he/she has a U.S. citizen as a co-signer/co-borrower on the loan.
