The Monterosso Scholarship

Wagner College is conducting a competition to award the Monterosso Scholarship. The Scholarship, a $5,000 award, will be presented to a Wagner student with junior or senior standing in the 2011-2012 academic year who has an interest in a career in public service. Sophomore students should apply to receive scholarship funding for their junior year and junior students should apply to receive the scholarship funding for their senior year. Students who received the Monterosso scholarship funding for their junior year may reapply for their senior year.

The award is in memory of the Honorable Vincent J. Monterosso, Class of 1963, who died in 2003. Mr. Monterosso dedicated his life to public service and this scholarship is intended for students who share in Mr. Monterosso’s commitment to the public good.

Interested students should submit:
· two letters of recommendation
· an essay (1500-2000 words) relating to their involvement in and commitment to some aspect of public service or public policy, and their career goals/aspirations (note: this should not be a research paper)
