My current projects include an examination of 16th and 17th century women's writing about mourning, melancholia, and suicidality. In this project I explore ways in which early modern women poets write beyond the body, crafting a queer poetics. This project draws on many of my research and teaching interests: the reception and adaptation of classical literature in the early modern world; the embodied expression of emotion and the dissemination of that emotion; and the centrality of lyric poetry in establishing ideas about how to communicate feeling.
