The Sixth Annual Egon J. Salmon and Family Commemoration of Kristallnacht and the S.S. St. Louis

The Wagner College Holocaust Center presents "Beyond Anne Frank: Hiding from the Nazis in the Netherlands." This talk by survivor and artist Lore Baer Azaria explores her family’s experience as German refugees who settled in Amsterdam and were then rescued by "Righteous Gentiles," the family of 25-year old Cornelia Schouten. It features remarks by Deputy Consul General of the Netherlands Barry Nieuwenhuijs and Wagner College Professor Laura Morowitz and a candle lighting by survivors and their families. Excerpts of a short film, "Rise Up," by Shira Stoll, local Emmy-winning videographer, pays tribute to Egon Salmon, age 96, eyewitness to Kristallnacht, and his impact on the next generation.
