WCHC Intern James Merlino Visits Normandy in Tribute to American Soldiers

WCHC Intern and Wagner College PA Student James Merlino joined over 60 Wagner students and faculty to pay hommage in Normandy, France, to American soldiers--amongthem many Staten Islanders--on the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landing. "It was made even more special by our visit to the graves of  Staten Islanders who were buried there." James wrote of his visit to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France. "We set forth to find the graves of these local heroes and pay respect to residents of our Island who were never able to return home." In the article James details his trip, organized by Professor of History and Director of the WCHC Lori Weintrob, and Professor Thomas Juneau, conductor and director of the Wagner College Choir, himself the grandchild of a WW II veteran.
