DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Major Gifts:

  • Prospect research, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors, focusing on $10k+ gifts and raise a minimum of $500,000 annually
    Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
  • An ability to empathize with, and assist donors in an effort to accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a personal relationship with Wagner College, and clearly communicate its mission
  • Design and execute major gifts fundraising strategies for a portfolio of approximately 50-75 prospects and donors
  • Identify and evaluate potential donors from available research and event participation
  • Collaborate with colleagues from academic departments and professional programs on various fundraising proposals
  • Utilize systems and software to track, cultivate, and requalify donors and prospects, including the Raiser’s Edge database and wealth screening tools
  • Track and report progress using specific metrics
  • Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition

Parent Engagement:

  • Develop and execute a parent and family giving engagement plan including events, touchpoints, and a leadership parent gift society.
  • Lead and execute a parent solicitation plan consisting of direct mail, phonathon, email, and other digital efforts including social media, as well as crowdfunding and Giving Day project
  • Work closely with Admissions staff to identify key philanthropic parents of incoming, current and recently graduated students to recruit as ambassadors for Wagner College
  • Energize team members, cultivate and engage prospects and meet annual goals

QUALIFICATIONS        

  • Two to four years’ experience in fundraising desired
  • Strong track record of success securing four and five figure gifts
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required
  • Commitment to higher education and a strong desire to associate with Wagner College and champion its mission
  • Understanding of the College culture and the process for decision-making and program development
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using the Raiser’s Edge database or a similar platform preferred
