The Education Department at Wagner College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor: 7-12 to start Fall 2022. The department recently received national accreditation by AAQEP and has a strong emphasis on civic engagement. The department prepares teacher candidates to be action-oriented leaders, committed to culturally responsive pedagogy and intercultural connections.
The essential duties and responsibilities associated with this position include closely collaborating with colleagues on curriculum planning and development, advising of undergraduate and graduate students, staying abreast of the latest research in the field, leading professional development for educators and teacher candidates, and supervising student teachers. Publishing in the field, making scholarly contributions, serving on campus committees and working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders are required.
Preferred candidates will have a minimum of five years of teaching experience at the 7-12 level. Candidates should be proven leaders with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, teacher candidates, families, colleagues, and community organizations. Candidates must be able to advance the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan; to support student learning and achievement through collaborative effort and research-based educational leadership, teaching, and learning; and support and advance aspects of 7-12 education in the context of national and international education.
An earned doctorate in curriculum development, special education, or a closely related field. Experience as a practitioner in 7-12 grade levels with a clear research agenda. Experience in Higher Education and a strong commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy and intercultural connections.
