The Nicolais School of Business at Wagner College, located in one of the five boroughs of New  York City, invites applicants to apply for a full-time, tenure-track, position for an Assistant  Professor of Management to start in Fall 2024.

The ideal candidate will help develop the relevant skills today’s business student needs upon  graduation; be current with recent pedagogical approaches which include online, hybrid learning;  possess an ability to be innovative in the classroom through experiential learning, real-world  applications, and industry partnerships; believe in the importance of a liberal arts education as a  foundation for a business degree; possess the desire to participate in the growth of the school;  and display a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

About the Nicolais School of Business

In 2016, Wagner College established the Nicolais School of Business (Nicolais School), to honor two of the college’s stalwart supporters of business education, the late Michael A. Nicolais ’49  H’14 and his wife, Margaret Christie Nicolais ’49 H’14.

The Nicolais School of Business enrolls 150 undergraduate majors and 53 MBA students with  ambitious goals to grow enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The Nicolais  School of Business offers four undergraduate concentrations in accounting, finance, marketing,

and management, a BA in economics and an MBA. Students are at the core of our decisions.  Through practical education, based in a liberal arts tradition, our mission is to prepare students to  be career-ready, data-informed, inclusive, and ethical business leaders, effective communicators,  and responsible global citizens. We are making investments to develop innovative, relevant, and  high-impact curriculum and programs to prepare students to thrive in an ever-changing business  world, and to cultivate and forge community and industry partnerships and to establish our brand  identity in the marketplace.

The Nicolais School has the full support of the senior leadership of the College, the robust  Business Advisory Council, an active Board of Trustees, and an engaged alumni base. The  Nicolais School is accredited by Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs

(ACBSP). We are in the exploratory stage of drafting a plan to become AACSB-accredited. Over  the past two years, we have hired seven new faculty members, spanning business disciplines,  who play an integral role in developing a vision for the future of the business school. Given our  location, there are many opportunities to build upon existing partnerships and form new  collaborations to help develop the faculty member and to identify and provide opportunities for  our students.

We seek a candidate who is committed to growth and who wants to be a part of this vision.


  • The candidate must possess a Ph.D. (or ABD near completion) in management from an accredited (AACSB), not-for-profit College or university prior to the start of  appointment.
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not required.
  • The candidate must possess a robust interest in excellent teaching, demonstrate an  interest in and potential for successful research, and a strong commitment to College and  school-wide service activities such as serving on committees and advising undergraduate  and graduate students.
  • We are seeking individuals with interest in teaching and researching a variety of topics including organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, strategy, and sustainability.


  • Teaching. The standard teaching load at the Nicolais School of Business is three sections  per semester (six per academic year) with, typically, 2-3 preps per semester. There are  opportunities to teach inter-disciplinary courses and honors courses.
  • Student advising at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Participation in College-wide and school-specific committees.
  • Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Presenting research at academic and industry conferences.

Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. Wagner College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
