Division Chair of Sciences and Math
Wagner College invites applications for an inaugural Division Chair of Sciences & Math. The Division Chair of Sciences and Math serves as a transformational leader and mentor to faculty colleagues, as a collaborator with other college departments and leaders, and as an advocate for the Sciences and Math Division. The division chair will partner with faculty and administration to provide leadership, vision, direction, and inspiration to help achieve the next highest levels in teaching, research, and service activities in the division.
The Division Chair of Sciences & Math reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Beyond maintaining a mission driven program, the Division Chair is ultimately responsible for guiding the department’s programs, enrollment, curricular quality, assessment, and faculty scholarship/service. This is a 12-month position with some teaching responsibilities expected. Disciplines represented in Sciences & Math include Biology, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, and Mathematics.
The Division Chair of Sciences and Math responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the division including strategic planning, curriculum development, support for instruction and research, budget preparation and management, course planning and scheduling, faculty contracts, and other operational responsibilities.
- Establish an agenda which has innovation and growth at its center with a vision for shaping the division and each department in ways that support equity and access.
- Help facilitate the development of new strategies for increased student enrollment, retention, and success, including underrepresented populations.
- Lead accreditation and assessment efforts and successfully collaborate with faculty to strengthen academic excellence.
- Understand the spectrum of pedagogies and practices within the division.
- Collaborate with faculty to highlight the liberal arts pedagogy, experiential learning, and civic engagement within the division’s curriculum.
- Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator, an advisor, and a mentor.
- Develop and maintain key strategic partnerships.
- Strong commitment to ensuring inclusive teaching and practices throughout the division.

Position Qualifications
MINIMUM:
- Doctorate in a discipline represented within the STEM fields.
- Three years of administrative experience as a college or university department chair or program director.
- Three years of experience leading or facilitating college or university-wide committees. Experience leading diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Experience using digital tools for teaching and collaboration.
- A demonstrated record of scholarship.
PREFERRED:
- Three years of experience leading organizational change.
- Experience writing successful grants.
- Experience successfully leading an accreditation process (e.g. Professional Educator Licensing Standards Board, Regional Accreditation).
- Experience teaching online and in graduate level programs.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $113,332. Wagner College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
