Joanna Hayes

Joanna Hayes grew up on Staten Island, just a short ferry ride away from the theatre capital of the nation. Through her participation in dance and drama programs during her childhood and young adulthood, she was able to experience first-hand the benefits of an arts education. Her ultimate goal in teaching is to cultivate a safe space for all students to explore their identities and creative passions.

A proud alumnus of Emerson College, Joanna received a BFA in Theatre Education and Performance in December of 2019. Previously, she worked as a teaching artist at the Nantucket Dreamland Stage Company and served as the Education Director of a Theatre for Young Audiences group called Kidding Around.

Currently, Joanna is working for the New York City Department of Education as a theatre teacher for grades K-5 at a Brooklyn elementary school where she has created her own standards-based curriculum. She is a licensed K-12 Theatre Educator in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts
